Last weekend, we had a Reiki 1 class under the threat of a hurricane. I just heard from my student-to-be in Orlando. She didn’t come up as the storm was said to be going directly there. It wasn’t until today that I had half a clue about the damage it caused there.

It seems all the news on TV had to do with the hurricane hitting the west coast of Florida, which it did as a category four storm. The other news had to do with the damage it did in Daytona. There has been no news coming out of Orlando where the storm passed right through. The only thing we had heard had to do with the theme parks (Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and more) being closed on the day the storm hit, and then being open two days afterwards.

According to Mary, my student-to0be, there was a lot of damage done in the area. Lots of houses were destroyed, lots of things damaged. Her daughter’s school lost its roof. A tornado passed over her house. There were still 90,000 people without power even as of this date. A lot of problems. A lot of people inconvenienced, hurt, or dead. Mary is very lucky to still be around, and looking forward to her Reiki 1 class now scheduled for October 22nd.

We feel that there wasn’t a lot of news from there is because the authorities didn’t want to scare away the tourists. Orlando, Kissimmee, and the surrounding towns make their money off of the people that come to the attractions that are there. They didn’t want anyone scared away, as that is this area’s life blood.

It’s a shame that it has to be that way, bringing people in even though so much has happened, but I can understand it. All I can do is say a prayer for those that passed on, and for those that are inconvenienced.
