Oils Used

Because massage movements cause friction which can be painful, oils or lotions are used to reduce the friction and make massage feel good. Various scents can be combined from essential oils to make 'potions' that are pleasant smelling to help relaxation.

The essential oils are added to a carrier base oil, usually grapeseed oil or coconut oil. While all therapists (including those at Caring Palms) use different materials, Brian uses either grapeseed oil or coconut oil. Grapeseed oil which is a light oil that provides long lasting glide for massage. Organic, virgin coconut oil is also a light oil that lasts long enough for massage, but does not stick around much afterwards and does not stain. Brian uses grapeseed oil in a variety of scents as well as unscented for those that might have allergies. He also uses coconut oil in its' natural scent.
