We had the psychic fair in St. Augustine today. It is not really a fair where you have many psychics (as the county has a law stating that psychics can not work within a mile of each other), but one where additional services are offered. (What would one do with many psychics anyway? Go from one to the next to see if they could get a consensus?) These services were Reiki, massage, spirit drawings, and good friendly conversation.

My teacher, Kay, was doing psychic readings. She was kept busy, and did not get her first break until 4:00. The place was crowded. She and everyone else was kept busy.

Julia was doing what she calls spirit drawings. I tend to think that aura drawings might be a more appropriate term. She draws her subject, then adds all the energy around the person in all the colors that she sees. They are really neat.

We had quite a crew doing Reiki. Carla came to help out, then Barb, then Shawn, and finally Helen. At one point we had all four of them doing healings, with me pitching in here and there. I kept them on their toes. If I had a moments break, I would sight scan their subject, and ask about the problems I found, even if I was across the room. The healers kept looking at me and asking how I knew such things (and these were all Reiki masters). I showed a couple of them how to do it before the day was out.

While all this was going on, I was doing massage. In fact, I did seven, 30 minute (more like 35 - 45 minute) massages during the day. My fifth person was a lady that takes psychic development classes with me from Kay. Shirley is a licensed massage therapist (something I am not). She told me she was in need of a massage, and that she could have gone to the school she graduated from (as they always have students there giving massages for a fee) and possibly get someone that wasn’t very good, or drive a half hour and come see me.

I don’t know why, but I always get concerned (nervous) when I work on someone that has been doing this for a while as a profession. It’s one of those times where you have to put your money where your mouth is. She told me that I gave a wonderful massage. Wow. We talked a bit about it and figured out some interesting things.

I was trained by my friend Carolyn, when we were both in the Baltimore area. Since that time, I have improved tremendously, but it is not improvement in feeling like most massage therapists do. It is improvement in intuiting. Most LMTs can feel stiff or knotted muscles. They can see problems just by the way people are standing. I can’t, instead I just tend to start working areas that I am drawn to, doing moves that I seem to need to do, even if I have never done those moves before. I give a very intuitive massage.

The other thing is that I do energy while I do massage. I may not consciously be doing it, but it is happening. Shirley also mentioned that it seems once someone has had a Reiki attunement, that their massages improve because the energy flows and heals while the bodywork is being done. It makes the massage a more spiritual thing rather than a technical thing.

The thought is that a massage therapist can be great at technique, and have all the moves down pat. But if they aren’t letting spirit come through, then they are only doing half of what they can. Spirit will heal as much as the physical motions, and possibly more.

I still find it interesting. I now have four licensed massage therapists that have told me I do a wonderful massage. I don’t know all the muscles and bones in the body, but I guess I can intuit... and spirit can heal. Cool.
