It is hard to comprehend what has happened in the last 24 hours. It is harder yet as a healer to sit by and know that there is nothing you can immediately do to help the people involved in the tragedy that occurred. It is harder still as an empath to deal with the flood of emotions happening around you, the pain, the sadness, the fear. Even the best shields can’t lock out enough.
I wish I could say that I had some great revelations, or that I did a lot of calming to those around me, but the truth is that I got swept up in the whole mess like everyone else. I did have a few moments of clarity that did surprise me. I have a friend in another state that is a much stronger empath than I am. She was literally getting crushed under the emotion of those around her. Upon her request, I threw a full shield over her that blocked out everyone. Then I put in physical links to three people she needed to feel, that she felt linked to all the time. One was her husband. Another was her very good friend who is a local paramedic. He was trying desperately to get some sleep before having to go on duty, and his concern was beating the hell out of her. She wanted to feel him, but needed it muted. (Later he got called and put on standby. It is possible that he could be sent to New York or Washington.) The other person she wanted to feel was me.
I thank the people that sent e-mails expressing their grief and horror, and their concern for my well being. I also thank those that sent me e-mails telling me that they were all right.
I was concerned about two friends, one in Long Island, the other in Pittsburgh. As reports continued to come in throughout the day, it was very sketchy. With a lot of difficulty, I managed to drop shields (and it was very painful), and managed to tune into each of them to see what they were feeling. Feeling that each one was experiencing negative emotions (anger and sadness) I knew they were ok. (I don’t know if I would have touched them had something happened. I felt that the negative emotions were a good sign they were alive.)
I am pleased to see that there are a lot of efforts by groups of Reiki healers to send healing energies. In truth, all we can do now is send healing energies, prayers, and healing thoughts to those involved. As one person put it, we need to wrap the entire country in cleansing white light. If you have a moment, give some energy, a thought, a prayer to the victims, those passed and those still here. Visualize white light falling on, and surrounding the country and everyone in it.
