I taught a Reiki 1 class today with two people. One of my students was Jean who came to the Reiki share a couple weeks ago. The other was Katherine who works with my student, John. Even though she comes from Gainesville, and there are a lot of good practitioners there, John gave her a glowing description of the training that he had gotten, so she came to me.

As I mentioned in another post, Jean had been drawn to Reiki, and when visiting a friend, received her Reiki 1 attunement. She then read Dianne Stein's book (Essential Reiki) to actually find out how to do Reiki. I think that one of the key problems with books, especially Reiki books, is there are very few (if any) that take the reader through a step by step 'this is how you do it' approach.

Jean told me that she felt she was doing Reiki, but at low power. She also felt that she needed to take the classes from an instructor. Seeing as she is into a lot of different energy modalities, and that she is gifted in what she can do with energy, she wanted to find someone with a varied background. She didn't want someone that would tell her that 'this is the only way to do it'. She also didn't want someone that would tell her that everything else she was doing was worthless. So, because of this, she came to me.

Both students were eager to learn, and did very well. They asked questions, which I believed I answered all of them. It was a good day, and lots of fun. I think both students will use what they have been taught. I hope to see them back sometime for Reiki 2.
