I had an interesting massage session today. One of the two ladies I worked on had some interesting problems, and it came down to some interesting solutions.

My client was having problems from stiff shoulders ranging into the low back, and hips. This person was fairly small, and I didn’t want to do a lot of hard work on her, yet I needed to work deep into several places. I spent a good deal of time working out the stiffness in the shoulders and ease the problems out of the back.

When I moved to the hips, I found her problem was very low into the back near the base of the spine. I thought that the problem might be the psoas muscle (pronounced so-azz) which has been troubling a couple of clients that I have seen lately. (The psoas connects the low spine to the tops of the legs. There are two approved ways of working it. The first is to work on each side of the spine in the back, usually with the client lying on their side. The other is to go in from the front, moving the stomach and intestines aside to be able to reach where it connects on the spine.)

I had my client turn on her side, and I worked the muscle there, but that didn’t seem to be the problem. I did some stretching pushing the hip one way, and the shoulder the other. That helped some, but not enough. Finally something (or someone) showed me what to do. For a while, I have been doing certain arm stretches against the shoulder when a client has certain problems. It was this that they wanted me to do at the hip. I was having a hard enough time keeping her properly draped, but did manage to do this stretching. The neat thing is that it worked. That stretch against my hand in several directions made her pain go away.

Now, I have to thank whomever in the spirit realm showed me to do this. Nice to know that they are still pointing me in the right directions.
