The state Board of Heath was just at my shop to inspect it. I passed.

In Florida, to have an establishment where massage is done, you need to have an establishment license, even though I am licensed personally. And since massage is healthcare, they want it clean, so they send an inspector around now and then to go through each place to see that they stay that way.

The inspector came out and spent 10 minutes looking at things. She checked licensing, insurance, and cleanliness. She said that the place looked real nice, and that I passed. She was going to go back and put that into her computer, and I would have the license from the Board of Massage in two weeks or less. Cool.

One odd thing worth mentioning, the inspector had called yesterday to tell me when she would be out. I mentioned that she sounded like she had a cold. She told me that she had been to the doctor that morning to get antibiotics.

Hmm, so if she had started taking antibiotics yesterday, when she came to the shop, she was still contagious. I’m glad she didn’t offer to shake hands. I would have had to politely refuse. But think about it. A Board of Health inspector is going to places while she is sick, and contagious. I guess ‘good enough for government work’ means just that.

At any rate, I’m glad I passed.
