I taught Reiki 2 today to two students. It was a fun class, but something surprised me.

I had initially expected to have four students, and considering that this level teaches group work, the more the better. One of the people I thought was going to take the class didn‘t get back to me, and the other (whom this date had been chosen for) took ill. I guess it wasn’t time for her to learn this yet. I had asked my friend and student, John (who is a Reiki master), to ‘come play’ as I felt I needed as many bodies as I could. I had also asked another student and Reiki master to come, but she also was ill. (There seems to be a lot of people getting sick lately. There is definitely something going around, and am doing my best to use my shields to filter it out so I don’t’ get it.)

As part of talking about distance work, I talk a little about astral projection (referred to as AP from this point on). I also do a short demonstration. I had actually forgotten this until some time into the class, when I realized that I would have to do this. You see, the last several times I tried to demonstrate this, it… well.. in a word, sucked. I can always do it when I need to, but there isn’t the urgency when I go to demonstrate it. Since John had taken my class on AP, I looked at him and asked if he wanted to give it a try. He said yes.

For demonstration, we set a stool across the room, and he sent his projection there (no, I’m not so lazy that I will refer to projection as P J). Next I turned my back to his physical form and held up a number of fingers on one hand and asked him to tell me how many there were. He missed the first attempt, but got the second, and third and fourth. The class was duly impressed. He did very, very well.

Feeling a bit put out as I should have been able to do it (not that I don’t appreciate his willingness or abilities), and with the class’s urging, I attempted to do the same thing. I projected to the stool, and with one of the students asking for ‘how many’, I identified the first two, then missed the third. (I had felt too good getting the first two and was losing a little of the calmness I needed to stay at the stool.) I got the next two and decided to quit while I was ahead.

Wow, two good AP demonstrations by two different people in the same class. Both students are talking about taking an AP class now. Cool.
