Well, here I was sitting on a boat in South Carolina when suddenly there was this need for a healer.

We took a couple days off and went to visit our daughter and her husband in Greenville, SC. Earlier this year, they had purchased a boat which they had taken us out in on Lake Keowee (I know the spelling is wrong).

In some large area of the lake, we met up with other ‘boating’ friends of theirs and we tied the boats together making a gathered collection of five boats. They tied them side by side. To get from one boat to the other, one had to walk out the back gate of one boat, and walk across swim decks to the other. (If you are unfamiliar, a swim deck is an extension on the back of a boat for people to walk out onto and get into or out of the water. In newer boats, the deck can be three feet long.)

At some point, one of the people there was on the swim deck of the last boat, which was an older model. The swim deck was only about 18 inches front to back. Well, he fell off the swim deck into some very cold water. On the way down, he managed to hit his leg on something painful.

He got up out of the water, and showed that he could stand on it, and that it wasn’t hurting. (Part of that was due to the temperature of the water, and part due to the alcohol consumed. J ) But we all saw the lump that was growing right where he hit it. Several people were concerned whether it was broken or not. A lot were concerned if it was all right.

Inside I had a quick argument with myself. I was debating whether to go over and offer holistic healing and take the chance to be seen as the weirdo for my daughter, or to just sit back and let more competent (?) people deal with it. The healer won.

I went over and took a look at it explaining what I was doing as I did it. I scanned the leg and couldn’t get any huge hit that would tell me it was broken. I started doing Reiki immediately. Although he couldn’t feel any pain from the place he hit, he could feel tingling all the way up his leg from the Reiki. I was there for a little bit when I decided that this was all I could do on my knees trying not to fall into the water off this short deck as the boat rocked.

We walked him back to his boat where I got him to sit down with his leg propped up. I then did a lot of Reiki just around that area. I pulled out negative energy, and I added more Reiki. At one point, I twisted the foot to be sure it wasn’t broken. Had it been he would have yelled no matter how much he had to drink. I felt fairly secure that it was not. We put some ice on it, and I moved on.

I told his wife what I had found and what we were doing with it. I told her I didn’t think it was broken. All in all, she (and the others) were glad I was there and able to do something.

A couple times later in the day, I went back and checked it. I moved the ice around, and I added more Reiki. The last time I looked, the lump was down to a reasonably small size.

Today, after my daughter had received a phone call, we heard that he was doing better. His leg was stiff and sore. He was able to walk on it without hurting too much. Cool.

I’m sure what I did made a difference. My wife told me that she was sure that he wouldn’t be doing nearly as well had I not been there to help. Well, that’s good to hear.

Sometimes, you never know when, but the need for a healer does arrive. The question all too often is whether the healer has the nerve to be one.
