I gave a talk and demonstration this morning at FMU on Reiki.  Everything was fine for the most part, then things just suddenly went south.

Initially, things started out all right.  I had each of them feel energy so they knew it existed.  I then scanned one of them to demonstrate sight scanning and how it reads energy. I really think I frightened a few of the people.  They look really scared that I could do this.  The two teachers that were there thought noting of it, as they understood energy, but it did scare some of the students.

As things progressed, I asked for a ‘victim’ to do a demonstration on.  This started off fine, but than she started reacting badly.  Now, it is possible for a massage client or Reiki client to react with emotions triggered form some past experience.  These emotions usually have been buried for a long time.  They could cry or laugh or speak.  Either a touch or an energy hits a specific spot and triggers an emotional release.

I did not know, but my ‘victim’ had been releasing in class all week.  When the energy hit her, it doubled what the massage in class had done as it went directly to the area that needed work.  She was crying and tensing.

Right there in the middle of the demonstration, I had to change my tactic.  I started draining energy instead of adding it.  I sent calming energy.  I drained negative energy.

During this time, I had to explain to the class what was going on.  I told them about emotional releases and that they could have that happen to their clients in sessions.  I think I got them to understand that although this was an unusual situation, it was also normal, and something that they could all run into.

Unfortunately, it really ruined my demonstration.  I never did get to finish the session.  I did not have enough time to get another victim.  In fact, I had to end the talk and let them go while I still had this person on the table.

Oh well.  I guess I won’t be getting ay students from that group.
