Ok, I’m on a roll. What is it with people’s attitudes? I know that the most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity, but the latter seems to be prevalent.

I have noticed that the attitudes of people have changed to where they expect things to be given to them, and they are looking for someone to have fault in what they are. This is a scary thing to me. People are not working, and they are not thinking. Part of that comes from how they were raised, part of it laziness, part of it something else.

When I was a child, my parents always told me not to play in the road. Of course back then one’s back yard was about twice as big as they are now, and there was room to play. Today, kids play in the street. But that is not the problem so much as the attitude of them. They feel they have a right to be there, and cars should not. I am always driving around skateboard ramps and full sized ladders that are left in the middle of the streets long after the children have left.

What are the parents teaching their children? It looks like nothing. Now, I know how it is. When I grew up, one parent worked, and the other stayed home. It takes two incomes today to be able to afford a house. That means that there is no one supervising the children until someone gets home. I had the same problem with my daughter. Thankfully, she turned out ok (though sometimes I wonder how).

When a car comes up, these children act like they shouldn’t have to move. (We got a neighborhood flyer asking everyone to be careful of children playing. Why isn’t someone teaching the children?) Yet I see the same thing when I drive through a parking lot. I see people walk out in front of cars without looking. Hmm, do the math… 200 pounds of human, 1,500 pounds of car. Who wins? No one. I see where their attitude is that if they get hit, they’ll sue and get tons of money. I’ve got news for you. No matter how much money you get, it will never make up for you ending up a paraplegic. Come on people, think!

This is why we have so many accidents in parking lots which raise insurance rates. People simply were never taught to think. I saw it when I taught school at night. There were people that didn’t want to work. They just wanted to have it all handed to them.

I sure hope something changes soon or we could end up in a nuclear war because someone didn’t know what that button did.

Ok, enough ranting for now. Let’s all just focus our energies to help people start changing and using their brains.
