We had an amazing mediumship class today. Although we all got messages from spirit, we could not define who that spirit(s) was, and the message we got was for all of us.

There were three of us, my friend, myself, and our teacher. Our task after the meditation was to draw pictures known as aura graphs. These are basically pictures that can show things in people’s lives whether it is obvious or not. It can also show a path to follow, something to look at. The information for the drawing is gathered either psychically (reading the energies of the person one is doing the drawing on) or through mediumship (creating the drawing based on information obtained form spirit). Once a drawing has been rendered, a reader reads the information. This is done by noticing points and letting spirit guide one to see things.

I started mine by closing my eyes. I saw grass, so I drew grass. (Keep in mind that I am no Monet by any means. I can do fair with charcoal and a nude model, but we were using crayons and whatever images came into our heads.) I put some flowers in the grassy area. For some reason, one of the flowers grew this purple line that went across the paper from right to left.

I then had the image of a sky being light near the ground and fading to black at the top. This used multiple colors. (One of the problems with doing a drawing like this is that there is no planning. If I were planning, I would have the darkened sky, but left stars there. With crayons, once the sky is in, it is hard to find a color that will go over black. If this were paint, it would be a different story.)

I drew in some stars as best I could. But there was a light source in the middle. I had initially thought of it as a crescent moon, but it turned out to be a mostly full moon. It had beams of light coming down in two shades piercing the darkness.

As I closed my eyes again, I could see some type of path at the bottom left. So, I drew in a cobblestone path coming from the left and going up to that purple line that bisected the paper. I looked at it again and thought that it was kind of empty in one area. Next, I saw a butterfly. I drew in the wings, but as I took another look at it, the body was a human shape.

As a last part I saw that there were other things also flying to the light from two directions. For a moment, it almost looked like an Armageddon sequence, but I know I wasn’t.

Next came the readings. I started, and feeling that it was for my friend, I addressed it to her. I knew she has been going through a lot of shtuff. She has been letting fear get into her path and block her. It has given her self doubt, and indecision when trying to move forward. This is what came to me as I told her about the drawing. I said how she had been moving along the path (the cobblestone path). I then saw this purple line as fear blocking her path. I told her it was time to trust in herself, grow some wings (I believe I actually told her to grow a pair) and fly over her doubt and fear, to fly to the light.

She then looked at her drawing and read to me. A lot of the message had to do with listening to spirit. It told me to ignore the people watching, and just do what I need to do. In the picture was a tree, and I think she described it as the source. The message was to follow the source.

It was somewhere in here that we realized that either of our messages could have been for all of us. And since we could not identify the spirit we had to write it off to higher consciousness. But then, there was one more picture to look at.

For some reason, Marilyn, my teacher, was told that she needed to do a drawing as well. She showed us what she had done. There was a curving line through it with ears on the end. There was a purple haze over the right side of the paper. From this curving line hung a heart-shaped tag with the number 42 on it.

As she read, she realized that this message was for both of us rather than just my friend. The light was blocked out so we could not see it. The haze was spirit. The line represented the path. The ears were telling us to listen, listen to spirit.

Marilyn could not figure out what the number 42 meant other than to think that it was the age of the person in my friend’s meditation earlier in the class. But I started laughing because I actually had the final piece of the puzzle, and it came from a science fiction novel I read many years ago.

There was a small sub-story in Douglas Adam’s book “A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” that dealt with a race of people on a particular planet that wanted to know the answer to life, the universe, and everything. So, they built this super computer and programmed it with every piece of information they could and started it running. The computer told them that it would take 1,000 years to come up with the answer. So, as we turn the page, we see the descendants of the people that started the computer running. It has now been 1,000 years and they have gathered to hear the answer to their question. The computer finishes its final calculations and proclaimed that the answer to life, the universe, and everything is... 42.

When we looked at Marilyn’s 42 on the heart, we knew that it was not an age, but ‘the answer’. And that we needed to love the answer by listening to spirit.

As it turned out, all three of us have been having doubts about where we should be going and what we should be doing. I have had a few bad weeks and have been concerned about where I will be ending the year. Even with all of the students through the summer, I am really on the border of ending the year in the red, or actually being in the black for the first time. Marilyn has been thinking that she needs to get a full time job knowing that she would miss the mediumship work she is doing.

This message told us all to hang in there and keep doing what we are doing. Of course, it was then time to turn things around.

For some reason, Marilyn has been kind of off, or dense. She has not been listening to things meant for her (hence the message). My friend and I started passing messages to her almost like a tag team.

Marilyn has not been getting the money she needs coming in, yet next year, she has scheduled out the ying yang. She has spirit retreats, guests coming over from England, classes and conferences. I was pointed to point out to her that next year is less than two months away. I told her that yes, she will miss what she is doing now, as in she will miss the down time because she will be too busy to get any. So the basic message that came from the students to the teacher was to relax and have faith. What better message could there be?

Like I said, it was a very cool class.
