Why do people play games? Why is it so hard to be honest?
I had a person stop in last week. He asked prices and availability. I told him, “I can see you right now.” He said that he was thinking about the next day at 5:00. I told him that I could see him then as well.
He gave me his name and phone number, and I made the appointment. I even gave him an appointment card. When his appointment time came up, he never showed. I waited until 15 minutes after and then started closing up. I didn’t bother to call. The sad thing is that I would have closed up an hour early had I not had to wait for him.
My gut feeling is that he was looking for a female therapist. Now, why drag me through all of that if he wasn’t planning on showing up? (Trust me, he never called.) Why do people have to play these games? Is it a power trip making me stay late? Or is it simply not having enough balls to tell the truth?
I think it is the latter.
