I had disturbing news from one of my clients today. She has decided to go ahead with the double mastectomy to get rid of breast cancer.

It has been a few months since she got the news that she had cancer. When she told me, I put her in touch with Marilyn, my mediumship teacher, as she is a breast cancer survivor. And she did it through all natural means, diet, acupuncture, Reiki. (The joke is that even though her cancer markers show no cancer, the doctors still wanted to remove her breast to be sure it never comes back. “Hey doc, I have a hang nail.” “No problem. We’ll simply cut off the finger so it won’t happen again.”)

At any rate, my client has been trying natural means and other things that have had good track records including some treatment in Mexico. But, she had an MRI done last week and found that the tumor has grown and had produced two satellite tumors.

She has been on the treatment from Mexico for 10 weeks, but she said it usually takes 20+ weeks for that to truly take effect. At the rate the tumor is growing, it may be past the point of saving her life by then. So, she made the decision to let the doctors do the surgery.

I remember seeing some special on HBO a few years back about women that have had mastectomies. They showed their chests where the surgery had been done. They talked about people’s attitudes, and how they changed. It was a very heart wrenching thing. Of course now, they have a lot to offer in reconstructive surgery, and something that has been helping her has been the videos on Youtube where people show the results of the surgeries, and what they went through.

What she will go through will be a three step process where the breasts are removed, and then implants put in. As her body can accept it, they will in stages fill these implants with saline. Eventually, they will create nipples and tattoo them to look like real nipples. So when it is all done, she will look normal, even when naked.

In preparation for the surgery, she wants me to work around her breasts to open up her chest area. When she gets the surgery, her chest area will contract as everything will pull in, and not just because of the loss of the breast tissue. The fascia will contract because of the trauma and pull in to the area where the surgery was.

What I did was fascial work to open up her chest. I worked the back and loosened up that area so it will not be so tight when things are pulled to the front. I also worked the upper and lower chest area and around the breasts so that will be looser as well.

The plan we came up with is to have it done again about four days before the surgery. That will give her the normal 24 – 48 hour period that fascial work needs to take effect and then some. I am also suggesting Reiki (which she and her daughter can do) and meditation to put her into the proper mode to accept this process. Then afterwards, as she can accept it, more fascial work to loosen up the area and keep it loose as she goes through the last stages.

I wish she didn’t have to go through with this (as I know she does), but it seems to be her only option if she wants to live a few more years.
