I did a freeform massage today on someone that was trying to relax as she was facing surgery. What I saw when I opened my eyes was wonderful.
This person has been getting massages for the last few weeks as they keep moving back her surgery date. When she first told me that she needed something really relaxing, I suggested a freeform massage. I have seen this person several times before, so there was a certain comfort level between us. She said that she felt that I respect the body and that she could get comfortable with the minimal draping required.
After about 45 minutes into the massage, while I was working on the front side, I opened my eyes and looked at her face. Here was this woman draped only in a hand towel with this look of absolute bliss on her face. It was like... wow.
I guess I actually did deliver on what she wanted. Cool.
