I met a lot of people, and many of them were Reiki masters. But when they talked with me, and asked me questions, they felt they had something to learn.

One of the things I do when I do Reiki and when I teach Reiki is to get the energy flowing, and then get out of the way. That is the basics for doing spiritual healing. Let spirit do the work. That is the Rei part of Reiki, spirit guided. Get out of the way and let spirit do what they feel needs to be done.

We had a student demonstration of healing the evening of the second day. I was one of 12 that volunteered.

Since I was in the last group, it gave me a chance to watch what the others were doing. In each case, there was a chair for the recipients to sit in, with the healer standing. We each got to do at least two people. One person simply sat his ‘victims’ in the chair, and stood aside of them the whole time. He tuned into the energies, and managed to get them to the person he was working on without even looking like he was doing anything.

The others were more traditional. They all passed the energies through their hands, either touching their subjects or not. But one of the things I noticed was that they all had their eyes closed, concentrating. Now, when I do healing work in my studio, I may have my eyes closed, but the last thing I am thinking about is the energy. I am aware of it, but other than being a portal, I am not involved with it at all.

When it was my turn to get up there, one lady started coming over but Marilyn beat her to it. Now, what I did was a very sharp contrast to what the others were doing. My eyes were open, and I watched the other healers, and the ‘audience’. And because I am who I am, when I felt the need for some minor massage moves, I did them. When I felt I needed to go to some other part of the body, I did.

My second ‘victim’ got a similar treatment, yet different. I again started with my hands on his shoulders (as the energy goes where it needs to go), and went from there. I wasn’t trying to do chakras or anything. I only had 10 minutes, so I did what I could, letting myself be drawn where I needed to go. At times, I was swaying to the music that I was hearing in my head. I was enjoying what I was doing, and I think it showed. I know several members of the audience made comments to me over the next couple of days about how neat it was watching me. As part of the last bits with this second person, I did some movements on his shoulders. One of them popped into place. Cool.

After I had finished, his mother came over and told me she had wanted to get to sit in my chair, but Marilyn had beaten her to it. So I had her sit and did healing on her.

The next day, she told me that when I had my hands over her ears, it was like she could hear rain. She had had her son put his hands over her ears, but it was not the same thing. She asked me to put my hands there, and when I did, I made sure that I was not running energy. She looked at me puzzled and said she could not understand why. I told her it was because I wasn’t passing energy. Then I did the same thing while doing Reiki, and she saw a difference. I knew this because her eyes opened wide.

Later that day, while at lunch, I came up behind her while she was eating and did the same thing. She looked around like she didn’t know what it was and then saw me and laughed. I got a high five from her son.
