The Show's Being Cancelled

This song jokes at Jonathon Frakes (Commander Ryker) who for years had been having a rivalry with Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard).  For a while it seemed to be a contest of who could charge more for convention appearances, etc.  Frakes would always joke at Stewart's Pontiac commercials when he would be at conventions. 

The song jokes at Ryker never being captain as in the series he had turned down the position three times.  With no more series, he would never get the chance.  And it also makes fun at him being out of work and needing money.

The last thing that it hits on is the old Arsineo Hall show.  Arsineo was obviously a Trek fan, and had (at one time or another) every member of the Next Gen cast as a guest on his show.  When Frakes was on, Arsineo asked him if he liked doing conventions.  Frakes reply was 'They pay me.'  This of course riled many fans.  But at the time of the writing, Arsineo had just been cancelled.

The original song, 'The Worst That Could Happen', told a story of someone's girl that was marrying someone else.  After the last verse, it played the wedding march several times while other words were sung.  FreeFall's performance duplicated this so perfectly.  In place of the wedding march, we used the Trek fanfare.  It was very well done.
