The Real George the Groundhog

Tim, whom I used to work with, has a friend that works at BWI Airport. One of her co-workers played a practical joke on her one day that she thought was not very funny. She got with Tim to try to devise a good way to get back at him. At the time, this person was having trouble with groundhogs out near the runways, and so an idea was born. A short write-up was created and given to all their friends. When these people went on vacation, they would buy two identical postcards. They would be filled out the same, usually something like “Having a wonderful time! Wish you were here!” They would then be signed “George the Groundhog”.
One card would be mailed to this person at the airport, the other would be brought back and placed in the “George the Groundhog Scrapbook”.  At the height of the joke, this person would receive a card once or twice a month, from some location on the planet, usually in a different hand writing than the one before. He would look around to see if he could find someone laughing. He never did. George stopped sending cards to this person a while ago. To this day, he does not have the slightest idea who was behind it.
In his current incarnation (regeneration?), George occasionally sends postcards to friends. We receive one from him now and then. Of course, now in the age of the Information Super Highway, George has gone High Tech. People occasionally receive E-Mail from him. He has actually created an account on a local provider and dials into it from wherever his travels take him.
