A Full Warehouse at the Pole
T’was three nights before Christmas and all through the Pole,
Santa looked at his warehouse, and his eyes they did roll.
It was stuffed to the gills with no available space,
A catastrophe waiting in this enormous place.
There was nowhere to step, just paths here and there,
To get in and out safely, he didn’t have a prayer.
How could this happen, where’d it all come from?
Was there a problem they could not overcome?
He called a meeting of his oldest elves,
And asked what had managed to fill all the shelves.
They explained each year they made too many gifts,
The remainders were warehoused, they did it in shifts.
So every present that did not have a home,
Was piled ceiling to floor in the huge warehouse dome.
They stored every gift that had been over produced,
So now it was full, some space had to be loosed.
Santa said, “We need room, we’ll have to declutter.”
This set the elves to be all aflutter.
We can’t throw them all out, that would be such a waste.
We must make a decision, and make it in haste!
What can we do, an idea, it must come,
We just can’t sit around feeling all numb.
Santa said “I don’t care how, we get rid of the clutter.”
When the elves looked blank, he added, “Did I stutter?”
The head elf had a plan that he said was brilliant,
We’ll deliver them all, and show we’re resilient.
They’re all brand new, in perfect condition.
Empty the warehouse, that will be our mission.
There’s vintage 8-track players and games galore,
They should be a hit, a perfect ten score.
Toys, there are plenty. Could we even say more?
To be played on any surface including the floor.
The wonder and magic of the incredible Slinky,
And a treat to go with it, the everlasting Twinkie.
And vinyl is coming back, music from previous years,
The best progressive new jazz, should be welcomed with cheers.
Board games from shows like Video Village,
A place to have fun, and not riot or pillage.
There are toys that were designed for every child,
To show creativity, and let them go wild.
Rock ’em Sock ‘em Robots for Billy, Chatty Kathy for Leigh,
An Easy Bake oven for Hannah, a culinary artist to be.
Walkie Talkies for John and Bart, to help keep them in touch,
,Little Miss Echo for Bonnie, as she talked too much.
And Creepy Crawlers for Thomas to cook up a scare,
Army Men for Dan which will be found everywhere.
Tiddly Winks would be a hit to improve someone’s skills,
And of course Woolly Willy to give them some thrills.
And learning toys that everyone would grab,
Like the wonderful, amazing Atomic Science Lab.
Santa thought for a moment, and said, “Sounds like a plan.
From the end to the beginning, back to where it began.”
So the elves did some hustling in a short amount of time,
And had everything ready with Santa still in his prime.
The warehouse was emptied, the sleigh, it was loaded,
The recipients and schedules were all encoded.
Santa traveled that night to all destinations,
Which spanned the globe and all of the nations.
All the gifts were brought in and placed under trees.
Then he stood by each fire so he wouldn’t freeze.
When the last gift was in place, and his job was done.
He thought, “Warehouse emptied, gifts delivered, I think we’ve won.”
So when you open your Christmas gifts please be aware,
They might be different than the usual holiday faire.
Just imagine Santa saying, completely deadpan,
“Merry Christmas to all. Let’s do the Time Warp again.”
We wondered what would happen if Santa’s warehouse filled up with extra gifts from previous years.
