Oils Used

Because massage movements cause friction which can be painful, oils or lotions are used to reduce the friction and make massage feel good. Various scents can be combined from essential oils to make 'potions' that are pleasant smelling to help relaxation. If therapists make their own scents, the essential oils are added to a carrier base oil, usually grapeseed oil or coconut oil.

While all therapists (including those at Caring Palms) use different materials, Brian uses either coconut oil, or safflower oil. Both are a light oil that provides long lasting glide for massage, but does not stick around much afterwards and does not stain.
