Music of Life
by Spirit with Brian Dean
Tones, notes, and chords. They make up the music we hear. They come together to make sound, music. That music can be chords and discords, major and minor, Rifts and melodies, Soft and melodious as a cello, Or big and bold as a brass band. It can come from traditional instruments, Or a jug band. It can also come from the sounds for nature, The birds and insects, The sound of the wind blowing past, A dog barking or a bird singing. It is all music, all chords with differing harmonies. And while we may feel it is noise, It is so much more than that. Each musician plays their own melody or harmony. They merge with other melodies and counter melodies, Creating a song. And if you listen, you can feel the love of each part, How they merge, create harmonies, Work with each other to create that song. Music moves us. We can meld softly with pan flute, or guitar, or violin. We can relax to the sound of a stream and birds calling, Or wave breaking upon the shore. We can be dancing to rock and roll, Or be boogying throughout the day. We can walk with a purpose to the even tones of some songs, Or stride with vigor to a Souza march. Listen to the music. Feel it imprint upon your soul. Sway with the rhythms. Mellow at the soft parts, Strengthen with the bold parts. But listen. Listen to the music of life. |
