Costumes By Shirley Dean
Shirley has been making costumes forever, dressing up our daughter for Halloween, costumes for a haunted house, but when we started going to science fiction conventions, things really came out. The ones here were worn around conventions and the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Many were used in costume competitions, winning top awards.
All costumes here have been made by Shirley Dean, including in many cases, boots and weapon holsters. While all these outfits were made without patterns, some were recreations of existing outfits (like Star Trek). The ones that are originals have been designed in the fertile darkness of Shirley’s imagination. Much of the hardware (weapons, communications devices, Doctor Who’s scarf) were recreated from scratch by Brian Dean. (Some of these have videos of the actual competition presentations. Please be kind as they were transferred form VHS.)
